Well, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that I finally have an apartment, and I have some temporary (mobile) internet until my formal internet gets set up. So I should be able to post to my blog more.
The bad news is that yesterday my grandfather passed away. Of course, I've been pretty upset, especially since I decided (at the urging of my family members) not to make the trip home for the funeral. In some ways, it's for the best. Granddaddy was 89 years old, and his health had really been deteriorating over the past few years. He was not one to complain, but I got the feeling that he did not feel well most of the time. Now he is now longer suffering. Still, I feel bad that I can't be with my family right now.
So, as you might understand, I have been not feeling much like posting recently with my recent family issues. But I am starting to get settled in, so expect some more posts from me soon. Here's a list of what I hope to post about, partially as a reminder for me:
1. I visited a church bell-ringers' practice. It was quite interesting.
2. I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens. This post will include pictures of bats and cockatoos.
3. My new apartment is pretty cool, although the bus schedule took some getting used to. This will include pictures of the new place.
4. I have been researching organic and local living, and have been pleasantly surprised to find that my new city has a big sustainability movement. So that's pretty exciting for me.
Hope you all are well. I promise to post again soon.
