Christmas Revue

For Christmas, I went to Toledo to visit my sister and her family. Although Toledo is not known as a happenin' town, there are a surprising number of fun things to do. Here are some of the highlights.
My mom arranged a wagon ride for us in the town of Fremont. You may recognize the horses as the kind in the Budweiser commercials. It was a lot of fun and the hosts were very gracious, letting us pet the horses and everything.
We visited both the Toledo art museum and the glass museum, which included a glass-blowing demonstration. We could feel the heat from the glass oven, even though we were way in the back. I don't know how that lady manages to get up there and approach it all day!
Then there was Christmas, full of loot and fun gifts, as always.
This included a full-on Nerf gun war between my husband and the 9-year old in the house. You can see her holed up behind the couch.
The night before we left, we went to see the lights at the Toledo Zoo. It was very pretty and not too cold, which is good considering that I was catching one (a cold, that is).

Now Christmas is over and we only have one more big holiday before the dark days of January set in. Ethan and I are planning to go down to Girdwood, AK to watch the torchlight parade of skiers come down Mt. Alyeska. Then we'll ring in the New Year at our good friends' condo. I've never seen the torchlight parade, so I'm really looking forward to it! Hope your holidays were fun too, and have a happy New Year!

They are a team of Clydesdale horses, draft horses originally bred in Scotland.
