A 17 Year "Friendship"

I took this picture of Gray recently when it was raining. It's a little blurry (I need to learn to look through the viewfinder with my good eye if I'm going to be using manual focus), but I still like it. Gray is getting on in years, and she hasn't been doing so hot lately. Nothing definite, but she's just starting to fade a little bit.

I like this picture because looking outside is something Gray likes to do a lot, so this is how I like to think of her. Not many people like Gray -- she is very bad for people with allergies, and she's not very friendly. She's a grumpy old cat, and she isn't too smart, but she is very sweet and has always been there for me. I love my cat a lot, even though (and perhaps because) I know no one else really does. So when Gray goes, and I know it won't be too long now -- she is 17 after all -- I will keep this picture to remind me of all the good things I like about my cat.

Awww, that's a sweet photo. Blackie was 17 when we had to put him to sleep. I still think of him whenever I see a dachshund.
