Rockin' Around the Oil Barrel

Last night, Ethan and I went to the BP Christmas party, which is always so much fun. The theme was Espionage/Casino Royale, but we didn't do too much with the costumes. I wore this Chinese dress my friend loaned me and Ethan wore a suit. We did look good together.

The BP Christmas party is always fairly extravagant, as you might imagine with a rich oil company. We each get 2 free drink tickets (although we always manage to scrounge up more), a free professional photo, a taxi voucher, and a souvenir. This year the souvenir was a deck of cards, which we accidentally left there. Oh well. There is always plenty of catered food, a chocolate fountain or three, and dancing all night.

Contrast that with the National Weather Service party, which is a potluck held in the conference room. Woo. And it's this really awkward, forced small talk kind of "party", partially because there's no room in the conference room and you have to eat on your lap while sitting next to your boss. I usually take food back to my desk. So I was really glad we got to go to the BP party this year.

Today, I plan to go skiing. I haven't been yet this year, partially because the snow has been so crappy (insert a long rant about the weather here). I don't really have anyone to ski with since Ethan is doing ski patrol, but I'll probably get to eat lunch with him. Anyway, it will be nice to get out.

Which reminds me, I need to sign up for the Women's Ski Group my coworker is starting.
