Somewhere, beyond the sea

Although I had a request for more kangaroos and dingoes, I am sorry to say that I have pictures of neither of those. Instead, you will have to make do with pictures of Sculpture by the Sea, an annual event where artists are invited to create and display sculptures on the coastal walk from Tamarama Beach to Bondi Beach.

Here is the view down to Tamarama Beach, where Sculpture by the Sea began.

Overlooking the sculptures at Tamarama Beach

I thought there would only be 20 or 30 sculptures, but there were more like a hundred. Here are pictures of a few.

Wheel in the sky, keeps on turnin'

Ethan being cheesy (oh, I slay me!)

Who doesn't love a giant chicken?

Easter Island

I assume this means something about life and death, but I just liked it.

I liked the reflections in this one

The coastal walk itself is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable experiences in Sydney, in my humble opinion. So outside of the sculptures, we also enjoyed the walk on a beautiful late spring day.

View towards Maroubra from Tamarama

Wipeout!

Some of the most beautiful “sculptures” are the natural ones along the coastal walk.

There are many of these overhangs along the route

This rock really did look like one of the sculptures

The walk finished at the world famous Bondi beach.

Bondi:  a beautiful beach, for beautiful people

At this point, Ethan was tired and overwhelmed by the numbers of people. It’s been a long time since we’ve had to deal with large crowds! So we walked back to Bronte, where we started from, by the street.

It is awesome to live with this kind of scenery almost literally out your back door.

Yeah, I liked the chance to get up close and personal with the sculptures (although you weren't supposed to touch most of them).
