Red Letter Day

Well, I came into work today after a business trip to find that two things had arrived: my business cards and my fire boots! Yay! My business cards aren't special or anything, but I hadn't gotten any before because they don't get business cards for everyone here. Now that I'm doing more outreach, I get some. So I feel like a real professional (notice I said "feel like" not "am").

My fire boots were even more exciting. If I'm going to be going out on fires, I have to have these boots because they are fire resistant. The IMET program pays for them, which is good because the price tag on the box was $389!!! That is only slightly cheaper than my wedding dress!! More exclamation points for emphasis!!!

Anyway, here they are (women's smoke jumper boots). I was a little disappointed that they were not as comfortable as I had thought; I guess when they fitted me, they used a larger (and therefore more comfortable) boot. But I am hoping as I break them in they'll get more and more comfy. Now for some hiking. Hopefully I don't over do it and get blisters the size of Canada.

Yay! "These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do."

When we got business cards at work, my boss got "Frontier Psychiatrist" as his title.

"One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you..."

Okay, not YOU, but maybe someone.
